COUNSELING

The therapeutic process can take many shapes and forms.
I work with individuals, couples, children, and families.

Together we examine your unique experiences and ways of coping while thoughtfully linking these to earlier times in life. My orientation stems from current research on attachment and training in contemporary psychoanalysis.

You are entitled to have more fulfilling, honest, and joyful relationships; to feel accomplished and successful in your work in the world, and to more easily and comfortably be who you are.

I will work with you one on one or as a couple or family. Sessions take place anywhere from once a week to three times a week. The sessions are 50 minutes in length.

When working with children individually, initially the entire family or parents alone meet and then again at about every fifth session. I believe that the family’s involvement and input is integral to the therapeutic process and success for all involved.

Depression, anxiety, life transitions, irritability, marital difficulties, child rearing challenges, and family stress are a few of the issues my clients bring into therapy.

ASSOCIATES

My private practice has expanded to include a skilled therapy associate working under my supervision. Vanessa Kirker Wright is a registered associate working in private practice as she finishes up her hours towards licensure. Vanessa comes highly recommended. She has similar training and specialties as myself, as well as her own unique skill set. Vanessa offers a sliding scale fee structure. You may call me or reach out to Vanessa directly to schedule an appointment with her.

Vanessa Kirker Wright, AMFT

I have an undergraduate degree in developmental psychology and a J.D. along with my masters in clinical psychology. I was a family law attorney for many years and am very familiar with the challenges faced by individuals, couples and families in conflict. My focus is on individuals going through transitions, couples, and families. I take a humanist, psychodynamic approach with individuals, and a systems approach with couples and families.
